Gutter Cleaning in Orange County: What Clogs and When
A gutter clean-out is a response to a specific load of debris. Knowing what that load is, and when it lands, tells you when to ask for one.

What actually fills a gutter here
Central Florida has no leaf-peeping autumn, yet its trees still shed. UF/IFAS Extension describes spring leaf drop on live oaks as common and natural, and those trees also release catkins, the fibrous male flowers, in late winter and spring (UF/IFAS Extension). Add shingle grit, pine needles, palm fragments and twigs from afternoon storms, and a gutter collects a layered mix rather than a single type of leaf.
Live oak is a common planted tree across the metro. The City of Orlando promotes it as wind- and pest-resistant (City of Orlando), so debris from it is expected across much of the metro. What lands on your roof depends mostly on which branches overhang it.
What a clean-out removes, step by step
We work from a ladder or from the roof edge, scooping the trough by hand or with a tool, then bagging or dropping the debris for disposal. Wet, compacted catkin mats take longer than dry leaves, which is one reason two similar houses can get different quotes.
- Debris is lifted out along the full run, including corners and end caps.
- Gritty sediment near the downspout outlet is cleared so water can drain.
- We check whether water now flows toward the outlet.
- If we spot loose hangers or sagging sections, we point them out. We do not do roof repair or gutter installation.
We confirm the scope when we call you, and our quote depends on the home: stories, roofline, gutter length, access and how clogged the runs are.
What the calendar suggests
Three windows stand out. Late winter into spring, roughly February through May, is when oak leaf drop and catkins arrive. Before June 1, ahead of the wet season and hurricane season, some homeowners schedule a pre-storm clear. Then October and November bring a second pass after the wet months. Third-party vendors often describe roughly twice a year as a common rhythm, though a house with no overhanging trees may need less.
If you are reading this in a hurry, the practical question is simply whether your gutters are holding water or spilling over the edge. Either is a reason to request a quote.
